In Photography I work mostly with Landscape and Nature, here in the great Wild West of Colorado both are in abundant supply. There is a certain peace and tranquility that can be had from a wide-open desert landscape.
After working many craft shows over the years and selling stuff on that big
Auction site that starts with ‘E’ a fellow artist told me about Etsy, and I have been drawn to the artist centered approach and plan to be there for quite some time.

Originally from Michigan, I moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1991 after many years of vacationing here. Climbing, skiing and backpacking were a big part of my earlier years so the move to Colorado satisfied a major yearning.  The city of Boulder was a great starting point, but was too big, and too crowded. Within a year I moved to Nederland, about 17 miles west, 3000 feet higher, and a world away.  Now after many years here, the Mountains truly feel like home.
While in Michigan, I completed my masters’ degree in Biology at Western Michigan University. To acquire an understanding of the natural world and the complex systems that exist on our planet stem from many childhood summers at a Nature camp.
Later, in Graduate School, I dabbled in some Jewelry making and small scale sculptures using lost wax techniques. Part of this small scale detail carries over into my pen making. The allure of gold and platinum accents, blending with the natural beauty of the wood, is what I find most appealing in making my pens.
In addition to the small projects, I also have expanded into carpentry, furniture and custom cabinetry. My pieces vary from rustic log to contemporary and refined.
The first time I saw a piece of rosewood was one of the turning points in my life. With my background in botany I have a special adoration for the many unique species of wood that the world has to offer. I try to allow the wood’s personality to emerge as I construct each piece.
I have designed a number of pieces with an eye for function as well. One of my favorites is my Adirondack chair.
